In Greek mythology told by Homer, the "daimon" (pronounced die-mon) are divine powers which explain some of our behaviors and our thoughts. But it is Socrates who is best known for speaking of the "daimons" manifestations. In fact, Socrates was constantly saying that all he knows is that he does not know anything. In the Apology of Socrates, a text written by Plato, he explains that the demonic powers are like an inner voices (today we would say the voice of his consciousness) that were reminding him not to say anything he is not sure about. In the course of his trial, the divine powers never manifested themselves during his plea. Indeed, Socrates sees it as a proof that for once, what he says corresponds to the truth.
In other words, when the daimon "shines bright", you could see this as a friendly reminder to shut up instead of saying bullshit.
