Immanuel Kant tote bag: Sapere aude!
In "Answering the question: what is the Enlightenment?", Kant uses uses this formula which means "have the courage to use your own reason" to describe the spirit of his time. For him, humans have remained in obscuratism by their own fault. They behaved like "minors" for lack of courage and because it is easier to ask an authority to think for them. The new optimism that comes with the Enlightenment stems from this coming out of obscurantism for people who dare to know and who have the courage to think for themselves. Obviously, the formula "sapere aude!" still resonates with us more than 200 years later.
This tote bag is approxiately 15"X14 " and made of strong, durable and washable cotton. Designed by a social integration organization for immigrant women. Hand made by silkscreen printing.
